Introduction/Influences
Swarmworld borrows influence from games such as Gears of War (GoW), Tin Can (TC), Borderlands (BL) and Deep Rock Galactic (DRG). Players manage ship repair (such as TC, but not as complex), collect procedurally generated weapons (like in BL) and fight off waves of monsters (like in BL, GoW and DRG).

Ship Repair
Players begin in a lobby where they can select different missions varying in biome, length, and salvage type. They will then drop pod down to the planet's surface and begin work on repairing a crashed ship in that area.

Ships have a variety of systems that can be repaired for bonuses such as assistance in combat, scanning for resources or other benefits. Power, ammunition and space need to be managed effectively to get the most out of the ship. Certain cores systems need repairing before the ship can take off and be salvaged in orbit, such as engines and scanners.
Combat
Enemies will begin to attack the players once they land planetside. They will come in easily distinguishable varieties with different behaviours, attacks and weaknesses (such as enemy classes in GoW):
Basic melee - rush the player and attack in close combat.
Basic ranged - spit or throw projectiles from a distance.
Elites - tougher versions of the basic enemies with distinctive abilities and attack patterns such as charging, slowing attacks, explosive projectiles, healing, armour and blinding/incapacitating.
Boss - able to summon basic/elite support, only vulnerable in specfic areas/to specific weapons.
